With the national government earmarking a huge portion of the budget for
infrastructure development, major changes are expected in this
developing sector. Since the liberalization of the Indian economy,
private initiative has been given much encouragement and now leading
private infrastructure developers complete projects on a Build Operate
and Transfer (BOT) model. The BOT model helped the infrastructure
developers to get back their investments over a period of time.
Apart from the working capital given by the government, most of the
private players have been allowed to raise funds by issuing bonds and
also through the share market. When the shares started maturing, the
government allowed a tax holiday for the dividends declared by the
infrastructure developers. The government even allowed a 10 year tax
holiday to private infrastructure developers in urban areas and that
resulted in numerous other national and internationally known
infrastructure developers entering into this most happening market.
' Real Estate Investment in India ' (http://www.mirrealtors.com/) can
be done in many ways. Since land is continuously appreciating in India
mainly due to the booming economy, investment in landed properties is
worth, if you can properly manage the various property holdings. The
other option is to invest in bonds and shares of the leading real
estate developers. Investing in flats and apartments, particularly in
the metros is also worth. Due to the acute space shortage, even the
value of the apartment complexes in the metros and other cities have
now started appreciating.
